>>And that is FIND A MEDICAL ONCOLOGIST that
practices at a SARCOMA CLINIC and has DEALT WITH LMS BEFORE.<<

no.
then you get this mishmash about LMS specialists which is nonsense.

Stickto this, Annette...if the person is American, or for general principles:

go to a sarcoma oncologist
that is a medical oncologist who practices at a sarcoma center
and sees at least 100 sarcoma patients a year

If the person is Canadian
go to a sarcoma oncologist
that is a medical oncologist who practices at a sarcoma clinic
and sees at least 100 sarcoma patients a year
Princess Margaret Hospital is recommended

If the person is UK
ask for a referral to one of the hospitals that have a sarcoma center
[we have a list]

If the person is AU
refer to Irene Glenn

If the person is NZ
refer to Lynette

For EUropean we have a list.
Japan also has sarcoma centers.

For the rest of the world, we recommend telephonic consultation
or taking specific Pubmed Abstracts to educate the local doc

~~~~~~~
the sarcoma oncs will know about the difference between the sarcomas.
it's the general medical oncs who don't.
hope this helps.
doreen  :-)
Hi Mike,
Glad you found us and needless to say I am sorry that you needed to find us.
But since you have need of the information shared here and on the website -
We are all glad you found us. LMS is not a death sentence and people do get
cured. There is a great deal that you will learn as you read through the
website. Remember to ask questions here about anything that is disturbing
you. There is bound to be someone with the same sort of experience you are
going through. At this point you are still adjusting to the idea of LMS and
still need more information from your Oncologist before you can know what to
do next. Rest assured that someone will be here to help you find the
information that pertinent to you. No question is too small. And the range
of expertise here is quite amazing. The only thing that you be told (as
opposed to suggestion or opinion or research to consider) is something that
you may already have done. And that is FIND A MEDICAL ONCOLOGIST that
practices at a SARCOMA CLINIC and has DEALT WITH LMS BEFORE. Since you have
read the information at the web site, I know you have read this but I want
to emphasize it again, because it is so important. LMS is not treated the
same way as other Sarcoma's! And as such often does not respond to Chemo and
Radiation. The Oncologist's who really have the time to keep current on this
rare cancer are at Sarcoma Clinics.
Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.
With Love and Caring, (From Canada)
Annette
